Accor’s Race to Survive Phuket 2010 raised more than US$206,000 to benefit the Yim Kids Foundation, Accor’s registered charity foundation in Thailand.
The Phuket-based event was held over four days last week with racers running, swimming, cycling and canoeing around the island to raise funds to improve the social well being of Thai children.
Said chairman and COO of Accor Asia Pacific, Michael Issenberg, “It truly was a remarkable effort by all concerned. They raised an incredible amount of money that will make a huge difference in the lives of hundreds if not thousands of Thai children.
“’And they should also be pleased that they challenged themselves and completed a very difficult course over the four days.”
Accor Race to Survive has also attracted strong support from leading travel companies around the Asia Pacific region, including V Australia airlines.
V Australia spokeswoman Amanda Bolger, said, “It’s important for companies to be mindful that these efforts are for the long term. It’s great to see the Yim Kids Foundation expand its outstanding charity work for the underprivileged children of Thailand. We are proud to be a part in this important event.”
