Phuket flights back, take-offs Stop Torrent Hits Holiday Island

A Charter of the Iran flight was the first aircraft to land at Phuket International Airport shortly after 10, according to weather serious distruption. No flight takes off or lands for a period of approximately 70 minutes.
PHUKET: Flights in and out of the International Airport were thrown into chaos today as cancellations caused by massive flooding of Phuket affect scheduling.

At 8.50 am, an airport International of Phuket said spokesperson, the airport was forced to stop take-offs and landings.


Delayed or diverted was a flight of Tiger Airways of Singapore Phuket; Bangkok Air flights from Bangkok to Phuket and Samui. a flight of Jetstar’s Singapore to Phuket; and a flight of AirAsia Suvarnabhumi from Bangkok to Phuket Airport.


The final Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Phuket last night was forced to turn to Bangkok, spokesman for the airport of Phuket Panya Nantaboot said Phuketwan today.


Heavy rain began to fall on Phuket to 21: 30 continued throughout the night and was still down 10, disrupting life on the island in ways that have not been known since the tsnunami 2004.


Power lines were reported down, electricity services cut along the West coast of vacation Phuket and traffic to a standstill in many parts of Phuket due to flooding.


Floodings was at its worst in the holiday resort Patong West Coast, authorities said, with knee deep water and rising still.


A young British tourist was electrocuted in a swimming pool “live” on 06 popular Bengali self-esteem of Patong, the walking Street.
