Phuket flights back, take-offs Stop Torrent Hits Holiday Island

The final Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Phuket last night was forced to turn to Bangkok, spokesman for the airport of Phuket Panya Nantaboot said Phuketwan today.


Heavy rain began to fall on Phuket to 21: 30 continued throughout the night and was still down 10, disrupting life on the island in ways that have not been known since the tsnunami 2004.


Power lines were reported down, electricity services cut along the West coast of vacation Phuket and traffic to a standstill in many parts of Phuket due to flooding.


Floodings was at its worst in the holiday resort Patong West Coast, authorities said, with knee deep water and rising still.
